27th International Chess Tournament of Elba Island “Luigi Amalfi” – Lacona 10/17 May 2009Under the auspices of the Italian Chess Federation and in cooperation with Circolo Scacchi Elba and L'Italia Scacchistica, Tuscanhotels announces and organizes the XXVII International Chess Tournament of Elba Island "Luigi Amalfi". It’s a FIDE FSI CONI official championship. It will take place at Hotel Lacona from May the 9th to May the 16th 2010. The Elba Island Festival is at the 28th edition and it’s one of the oldest chess tournaments.

SYSTEM AND RATE OF PLAY

System: Swiss
Playing Session Open A: (Elo from 1800) 9 rounds – 90 minutes with 30 seconds increasing each move and 30 minutes after 40 moves;
Playing Session Open B: (Elo less than 1900 or without score) 8 rounds - 20 moves in 90 minutes and one more hour to finish.
Admissions and promotions accordingly with Reg. F.S.I.-F.I.D.E. rules in force.

ORGANISATION AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Subscriptions have to be made at Hotel Lacona not later than Sunday 9th May, 2010 by 6:00 PM. The fee is: Euros 65,00 per male player, Euros 50,00 per female player, Euros 35,00 under 16. No organizing fee is due to G.M. and I.M.. All Italian and foreign players resident in Italy must show a valid F.S.I. card or must subscribe it at the tournament. Foreign players with no Elo F.I.D.E. have to show their rating with proper records. The organizers may make changes in order to consent the best outcome of the venue. The entry means the agreement to the unreserved acceptance of tournament’s rules. In the tournament hall smoking is prohibited and mobile phones must be switched off. Neither prizes nor refunds of expenses will be given before the closing ceremony. In absence of the winner, prize shall be sent by post or bank (after costs). Prizes are indivisibles and non cumulative and will be given according to the technical play off Bucholz FIDE integral.
