How to reach the Island of Elba – Hotel Lacona
… choose the easiest way to get to Elba Island
By car or motorbike
To reach the port of Piombino Marittima:- from north: motorway A12 Genova - Rosignano, then continue from Rosignano on the highway towards Rome and take the exit for Piombino;
- from south: Motorway A12 Roma – Civitavecchia, then continue from Civitavecchia on the highway towards Livorno and take the exit for Piombino;
From Piombino take the ferry to Portoferraio or to Porto Azzurro (about 1 hour journey); it’s better to book in advance, especially in the summer and at weekends.
From Portoferraio Port to Lacona:
- From the port of Portoferraio you have to follow the sign “Tutte le direzioni” (“All directions”) and continue towards Porto Azzurro; after about 1 kilometre, at the traffic light, turn right towards Lacona. Once in Lacona, follow the signs to Marina di Campo. Hotel Lacona is located on the right side of the main road, the reception is open 24 hours a day.By plane
Marina di Campo airport – Island of Elba (EBA) is situated about 10 kilometres far from Lacona, direction Porto Azzurro/Capoliveri.
A free shuttle service from/to Marina di Campo and Hotel Lacona is available if booked at least five days before the arrival day. Hotel Lacona can arrange on request, with extra charge, the transfer service from Pisa airport to Hotel Lacona.

By train
The nearest railway station to Elba Island is Piombino Marittima. On the route Pisa – Rome Campiglia Marittima is the connecting station with the port of Piombino. From here local trains or a bus service will take you to Piombino Marittima. From Florence there is an interesting Trenitalia bus connection, the so called ES*Link, which costs 10 euros and connects non-stop twice a day Florence and Piombino Marittima. Once arrived on Elba Island you will find taxis and public buses of Azienda Trasporti Livornese.
